The Suda Institute is proud to share that both the Substance Use Network Project (SUN Project) and the North Carolina Perinatal Substance Use Disorder Network (NCPSUD) were recently recognized in a new case study published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Healthy Starts: Postpartum OUD Care Transitions for Mother and Infant. The publication highlights innovative, collaborative approaches to supporting pregnant and parenting individuals affected by substance use disorders and promoting healthy outcomes for mothers, infants, and families.
Within the report, SAMHSA identifies the SUN Project and NCPSUD Network as examples of initiatives that have adapted key principles from Vermont’s nationally recognized Children and Recovering Mothers (CHARM) model, demonstrating the adaptability of coordinated, cross-system care approaches across diverse communities and populations.
